Recognizing The Ally Cycle

Dependable as Snow Drops in Springtime, "allies" really show up for the tittilation of trauma.

White people need to see Blackness traumatized. Even watching TV casually, notice how much screen time is allocated to the traumatizing Black bodies, versus the quick cutaways afforded White characters.

White women, especially, feed off of the drama and power of Black women.

The cycle is always the same.

Tragic event.
Disbelief. Crying, sadness, feelings.
Verbal expressions of support.
Prayer.

Declaration and acceptance of personal frailties which prohibit one from participating in said support.

Posting Black Lives Matter signs in the yard, whilst the second breath declares the education of their very specific children is a family value or a way up a ladder to the real White dream of unbridled power. Not using the integrated neighborhood schools, in favor of the segregation of charter or magnet schools because their children matter.

Giving out passes and pardons to White friends who refuse to get to the work of being an accomplice by, explaining about their job, or other issue. Calling for intersectionality only when said intersectionality has tangible personal benefits.
