White People, Your Revolution Is Now
If you’ve been waiting for the revolution, stop. There will be no defining, pivotal moment. There will be no riots in the streets which change everything from that day forward. You will not suddenly find yourself on the right side or the wrong side of history.
There will be no announcement of a hateful march. There will be no counter-organizing. There will be no stand off where somebody (White) dies because of Racism.
Somebody is always dying. Dying for racism happens everyday. Racism doesn’t need a special event for death to happen.
There will be no pleasant walk through the streets of Washington D.C. followed by brunch; and the introduction of a bill which speeds through Congress; and is signed by the President.
The revolution will not have public glitter. It will not be a family-friendly, inter-generational, self-congratulatory moment to scrapbook or Facebook or both.
Every day for centuries, Classism puts on its uniform of White Supremacy to serve as Society’s Leader who barks out commands to its minions Patriarchy, Homobobia, Ableism and Christianity. The Right know this. It’s not a big secret. The Right has been working diligently for over 20 years to bring us to this moment. 45 didn’t appear out of nowhere.
